Apple Cranberry Compote
This apple cranberry compote has appealing apple slices peek through the red cranberry sauce. A great side with poultry, pork or wild game.
4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1/4 cup of water
8 cups peeled and sliced cooking apples
2 cups sugar
1. In a covered saucepan, simmer cranberries and water for 20-25 minutes or until tender
2. Press through sieve or food mill, return to the saucepan.
3. Add apples, cove and simmer for 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender, but retain their shape
4. Add sugar, simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
